Reliance Jio chairman Akash Ambani revealed his intention to develop generative AI solutions, and Reliance envisions an upgraded mobile ecosystem, Jio 2.0, which may encompass AI-powered products and services.

According to PTI, Mint, and the Economic Times, when addressing the annual IIT Bombay TechFest, Ambani said Reliance is working with the IIT Bombay to launch a Bharat GPT program, and Reliance planned to launch AI-powered products and services across all its sectors inside the organization, including media, commerce, communication, and even devices.

Besides, Ambani said the company is developing a proprietary smart TV operating system and is thinking about how to launch it. He further said Reliance is working on the vision of Jio 2.0 without elaborating on the plan's details.

According to a survey by Automation Anywhere, 63% of Indian enterprises are proactively directing investments toward AI and machine learning to automate their business processes in the upcoming 12 months, marking an 85% surge in AI investments compared to the previous year and 33% of these enterprises are planning to adopt generative AI to drive future growth.

According to an EY India report, "The AIdea of India: Generative AI's potential to accelerate India's digital transformation," generative AI is expected to add a cumulative US$1.2-1.5 trillion to India's GDP over the next seven years. Still, EY India cautioned that in the short term, Indian enterprises would grapple with a shortage of individuals possessing AI skills, a challenge that is expected to persist.
