After a meeting between Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, it was stated that Japan hopes Nvidia will supply as many GPUs as possible to Japanese companies for AI development. Nvidia also plans to collaborate with Japanese companies such as SoftBank to accelerate the development of generative AI in Japan.
According to reports from Nikkei and Kyodo, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang met on the afternoon of December 4th at the Prime Minister's official residence in Japan. After the meeting, Huang revealed during media interviews that, to meet the needs of Japanese companies for the development of generative artificial intelligence (generative AI), Prime Minister Kishida hopes Nvidia will provide as many GPUs to Japan as possible, and Huang has committed to this.
Huang pointed out that Nvidia will collaborate with Japanese companies such as SoftBank, internet service provider Sakura Internet, IT company NEC, and telecommunications provider NTT to accelerate the development of generative AI.
Regarding generative AI in Japanese, Huang believes that Japan will eventually establish a unique language model based on Japanese data. He also mentioned that the combination of generative AI and specialized knowledge and experience in Japanese manufacturing will be able to demonstrate advantages in the field of robotics.
Furthermore, Nvidia has expressed its intention to assist in talent development. In the areas of weather and disaster prediction, Nvidia will also offer technical applications of AI.
