Samsung Electronics on November 10 launched its Symbian S60 3.2-based Innov8 i8510 in the Taiwan market with a suggested retail price of NT$28,800 (US$878).

The launch of the i8510, which comes with a 8-megapixel camera and supports 3.5G, Wi-Fi and GPS/AGPS technologies, aims to boost Samsung's market share in the high-end handset segment, according to Jae Hyun Ryu, director, mobile communications unit, Samsung Taiwan.

Samsung will promote the i8510 through retail channels initially and will also team up with carriers to further expand sales later on, Ryu indicated.

The i8510 will take on Nokia's N96 and Sony Ericsson's C905 in the high-end sector.
