Professor Dieter Ernst in his recently published paper 'Upgrading through innovation in a small network economy: Insights from Taiwan's IT industry,' writes that Taiwan's 'global high-tech factory' model is now experiencing decreasing returns, in terms of value added, profit margins and job creation.
