Giantplus June revenues up about 10%

Taiwan-based small- to medium-size LCD panel maker Giantplus Technology has reported consolidated revenues of NT$1.02 billion (US$30.88 million) for June, a 10.52% increase from NT$925.46 million for May and a 9.37% increase from NT$935.24 million for June 2008, according to data from the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).

Revenues of the first half of 2009 totaled NT$5.3 billion, down 23.05% on year. Giantplus' second-quarter revenues increased 27.52% sequentially to NT$2.97 billion, according to the TSE data.

Revenues from first-tier handset vendors increased to 30% of Giantplus' total revenues in June in line with the company's previous estimation, and the company expects the percentage to further rise in the third quarter, market sources indicated.

Giantplus currently processes 40,000 glass substrates a month, and plans to hike the monthly input to 50,000 substrates by the end of 2009, the sources noted.
