Taiwan’s first-tier motherboard makers expect their November motherboard shipments to decline 5-10% sequentially, as their shipments peaked for the quarter in October, according to sources at the makers.
Investment banks Smith Barney and Goldman Sachs echoed the view that the combined motherboard shipments from the top-four makers – Asustek Computer, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), Gigabyte Technology and Micro-Star International (MSI) – will decrease in November.
Smith Barney predicted that their combined shipments will decline 2% in November, as opposed to its earlier forecast of 2% growth, while Goldman Sachs expects the combined November shipments to drop 7% sequentially.
The four makers combined shipped 8.85 million motherboards in October, up 4.9% from September, according to data released by the makers.
