Industry sources estimate that Quanta Computer's shipments dropped 10% on month in July and Inventec saw a 5% sequential decrease while Compal Electronics, Wistron and Asustek experienced a 5-10% shipment growth during the period, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN).
Dell transferring orders to Compal from Quanta was the major reason for the slide in shipments for Quanta, the paper said, adding that other clients of Quanta, including Acer, had slow growth in sales in Europe during the period.
On the other hand, Wistron increased shipments to Hewlett-Packard (HP) significantly, with HP to continue increasing orders for 14.1-inch widescreen notebooks, which are popular in the market now, the paper said. The paper quoted industry sources as expecting Wistron to see a 43.1% on year increase in sales to NT$59.9 billion in the third quarter.
