Arbor launches network security appliance
Press release, October 12; Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES [Friday 12 October 2007]

Arbor Technology has rolled out a MBX network security appliance MBX-1736, a network security hardware platform for system integrators and software developers to provide network management, content filtering, firewall/VPN, anti-virus, IDS/IPS and UTM applications for enterprises.

The MBX-1736 supports Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs up to 2.13GHz and up to 4GB dual-channel DDR2 system memory and adopts Intel's I/OAT (I/O Acceleration Technology) and AMT (Active Management Technology) to bolster server application response and I/O performance, noted the company.

The MBX-1736 has six 1,000 base-T PCIe Gigabit LANs, and two of which support Bypass technology which allows the network to keep working over the LAN despite a system failure.

The MBX-1736 features support for CompactFlash Type 2 and 3.5-inch HDD storage. A 32-bit PCI slot and a Mini PCI slot allow expansion with a crypto card or other add-on cards to meet requirements. Additionally, the platform supports watchdog timer, hardware monitoring and a TPM (Trusted Platform Module) to enhance the stability and security manageability of the system, added the company.
