Niche-memory design specialist Etron Technology has announced plans to spin off its USB controller IC and 3D image sensor businesses into two wholly-owned separate companies. The move is to keep its talent and enhance product line depth.
The planned spin-off will be discussed at a special shareholders meeting on October 5. The spin-off date is expected to be January 11, 2016, Etron indicated.
Etron reported net profits of NT$1 million (US$0.03 million) on consolidated revenues of about NT$2 billion for the second quarter of 2015. Revenues amounted to NT$3.95 billion in the first half of 2015, rising 14% from a year earlier, with net profits totaling NT$25 million, or NT$0.06 a share.
