AMD on December 20 confirmed the resignation of its senior vice president and president of Greater China region, David Tang. Rumors of Tang's exit have circulated the industry for months.
After Tang leaves his post, Spencer Pan, corporate vice president and managing director for Greater China, will take over his duties.
AMD is expected to complete most of its business reorganization, including employee layoffs as well as adjustments in businesses and branch offices, in the fourth quarter of 2012. AMD expects to save US$20 million through the changes.
In 2013, AMD is expected to save US$190 million, mainly through laying off 15% of its global staff, while the costs generated by the business reorganization, about US$80 million, will be included in the company's fourth-quarter results.
In additional news, Nvidia's senior director of Corporate and Product Marketing of Nvidia Asia Pacific will resign at the end of December and join Microsoft to handle the company's marketing in China.
