China Mobile and Foxconn discussing e-book reader production, reveals chairman

China Mobile plans to team up with Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) for the production of e-book readers, company chairman Wang Jianzhou said recently in Taipei. Wang arrived in Taipei on August 21 for a nine-day visit.

Wang said that he will meet with Foxconn chairman Terry Gou to discuss the possible cooperation project during his stay in Taiwan, and he expects shipments of e-book devices will start in the first half of 2010 at the earliest.

However, Foxconn declined to comment on Wang's remarks as well as the possible orders citing client confidentiality.
