Press release, October 17; Emily Chuang, DIGITIMES [Tuesday 17 October 2006]

NEC LCD Technologies today announced the development of a new monochrome, 21.3-inch a-Si (amorphous silicon) TFT LCD module (LCM), claiming the panel has the industry's highest resolution, according to the company.

The new model has resolution of 2,800x2,100 (nearly six megapixels), which surpasses that of NEC's high-end module NL256204AM15-01/01A, which has a resolution of 2,560x2,048. NEC's super-fine TFT (SA-SFT) technology enables a brightness of 1,000 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 1,000:1.

The commercial production of the new LCM is targeted for mid-2007 and the new product will be displayed at FPD International 2006 in Yokohama, Japan from October 18 - 20, NEC said.
