Gigabyte Technology has announced that it will start volume shipments of GV-N76G256D-RH, an AGP version of the GeForce 7600GS graphics cards.
The new graphics card, which employs a lead-free manufacturing process, is based on Nvidia's G73 graphics processor, according to the company. It comes with 256MB GDDR2, and supports Direct X 9.0C, Open GL 2.0, and Shader Model 3.0.
Intel's resumed production of 865 series chipsets this year has prompted Nvidia and ATI to revamp their product strategy, launching products that appeal to users that want to upgrade their AGP graphics cards without replacing their entire systems.
But the sources indicated that Intel will clear its inventory of 865PE/GV chipsets, which support the AGP interface, before Microsoft's Vista hits the consumer market early next year, and graphics card and mobo makers are trying to take their last opportunity to profit from the Wintel AGP platform.
