Taiwan’s leading memory maker, Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC), will receive technology licenses from Japan-based Elpida Memory for production on 80nm and 75nm nodes, according to a PSC filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) on July 25.
However, the licensing details have not yet been worked out, according to PSC spokesperson Eric Tang. PSC may either co-develop the advance process nodes with Elpida or directly gain the licenses, Tang added.
Elpida is now a board member of PSC and has transferred 0.11- to 0.09-micron node technologies to the memory maker in exchange for some 12-inch production allocated for Elpida.
