SiS ships over 20,000 PCIe-enabled chipsets to motherboard makers

Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) has shipped over 20,000 PCIe-enabled northbridge core-logic chipsets to a total of 10 motherboard makers, according to company sources.

The chips came in three versions, including the SiS656 and SiS649 for the Intel Pentium 4 platform, and the SiS756 for the AMD K8 platform, said the sources.

Consumer products built using the SiS PCIe-enabled chipsets, include 26 motherboards, 23 desktops and three notebooks, and all of these should be available on store shelves in early March, the sources noted.
