Kinsus Interconnect Technology has stepped up its pace of capacity expansion for ABF substrates, and expects the additional output to come online in the second half of 2021.

ABF substrates account for only 20% of Kinsus' total revenues, as the company remains focused on BT substrates for use in a wider range of device applications.

Kinsus disclosed recently the acquisition of a plant complex in Yangmei, northern Taiwan from touch panel maker Wintek. The company plans to house new production lines for ABF substrates at the newly-acquired site.

Kinsus originally planned to purchase a factory site also in Yangmei from Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), but the deal has hit a snag as CPT has been deeply mired in disputes with creditors.

The newly-acquired site will further boost Kinsus' overall ABF substrate output this year, according to market observers. The company is already on track to expand production capacity for ABF substrates by 30% in 2021.

In related news, Kinsus has reported revenues of NT$2.51 billion (US$89.75 million) for January 2021, up 33% on year.
