Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing (PSMC) has said one of its domestic employees at its factory site in Miaoli County, northern Taiwan has been confirmed infected with COVID-19, which, however, will not affect its business operations.

PSMC said in a statement the infected employee is not at a production-related department, and it has immediately taken anti-virus measures and will continue to tighten control efforts.

The company stressed the incident will not affect its manufacturing and shipment operations.

The company also disclosed that all of its 300 migrant workers have tested negative for COVID after undergoing rapid reagent screening, and all its employees now rotate in working from home and going to office in separated teams to minimize the risk of cluster infections.

Several high-tech firms including IC tester King Yuan Electronics, logic IC packager Greatek Electronics, networking solutions provider Accton Technology and equipment maker Foxsemicon Integrated Technology have reported COVID cluster infections at their plants in Miaoli, with over 240 infections confirmed so far, mostly among migrant workers.
