    There's no way that the average person is going to spend $1200 on a device that's primarily about media consumption, not content creation. Even if Apple gets mobile carriers to help subsidize the device, it's still way too expensive.

    Apple didn't launch the iPhone until Midyear, but Steve Jobs introduced it earlier at the January Macworld (which Apple is no longer attending). I hope Apple will somehow preview the tablet, even if the shipping date is later in 2010.

    Your last paragraph about expected costs and price points is confusing, but I think we can assume that the market for a tablet with a list price above $1000 is going to be relatively small.

    Apple iTablet - The lighter, the better. 400 to 600 g; The smaller, the better. Pocketable if possible;
    Capability to run native Apple Keynote and Microsoft PowerPoint files; Video out and USB ports for video presentation.
