Taiwan market: CHT offers HTC Desire P

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) and HTC on April 1 jointly unveiled the HTC Desire P smartphone for the carrier's exclusive contract-bundled sale in the Taiwan market.

HTC Desire P features Qualcomm MSM8225 1GHz dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch 800x480 SLCD touch screen, Android 4.0, 768MB RAM and 4GB ROM, a 8.0-megapixel rear camera.

HTC Desire P carries a retail price os NT$10,900 (US$365). CHT offers different subsidized packages on a 24-month contract, ranging from the highest at NT$7,790 with a fixed monthly charge of NT$303 to NT$0 with a charge of NT$1,343.

CHT has set a target of 3.5 million mobile Internet-access subscribers for 2013 and has reached more than 2.8 million so far. To promote mobile access to the Internet, CHT plans to procure 2.1-2.2 million handsets, many of which will be smartphones in 2013.
