Taiwan-based HannStar Display has reportedly entered the supply chain for Apple's iPad series and is expected to see increased panel shipments as a result during the third and fourth quarters of 2012, according to rumors circulated in the market.
When asked if it has indeed received orders from Apple, HannStar said it does not comment on matters concerning clients. However, it did say that shipments and revenues for the third quarter are expected to outperform those for the second quarter. The company added that roughly 20% of its shipments currently go to international companies.
The rumors claimed that since Apple has been decreasing its orders to Samsung Electronics for panels used in the iPad due to disputes between the two companies, the US vendor has begun shifting some of the orders to HannStar.
LG Display is estimated to have landed 70% of iPad panel orders while Sharp and Chimei Innolux (CMI) reportedly are seeing decreasing shipments for the Apple tablet.
Back in July of 2012, industry sources claimed that HannStar landed orders for the Nexus 7 and would comprise roughly 20-40% of the device's shipments. HannStar declined to comment at that time as well.
