Taiwan-based solar cell maker Solartech reported January revenues of NT$464 million (US$15.3 million), up 113.42% on month and down 71.42% on year. Solartech indicated that capacity utilization rate has been around 70%. The firm expects performance in February will be better than in January.

Taiwan-based firms have been seen as the beneficiary for the US anti-dumping and anti-subsidy probe against China-based firms. Hence Taiwan-based solar cell firms have been experiencing increases in urgent orders and capacity utilization in January and February.

The rising orders are also due to successful inventory clear-outs taken by distribution channels at the end of 2011, said industry sources.

Taiwan-based industry leading solar firm Motech also indicated that order visibility in January and February has been improving.
