OpenAI is expanding its European headquarters in Dublin, adding 250 jobs and leasing 8,000 square metres of office space as it scales operations across Europe. The move came as the company said demand from users, customers, and developers in the region continued to grow.
According to Bloomberg and Reuters, OpenAI opened in Dublin in 2023 and now employs about 100 people there. The expansion will support its growing European business and widen the roles available at the site.
The new positions will cover engineering, user operations, human resources, finance, privacy, and legal functions. That mix suggests the Dublin office will play a broader role in the company’s regional operations, extending beyond product and technical work.
Ireland has long drawn multinational technology companies with its English-speaking workforce, highly educated talent pool, and relatively favorable tax regime. Anthropic also has an office in Dublin, while the European headquarters of Meta Platforms, Apple, Microsoft, and Alphabet's Google are all based in Ireland.
The expansion comes after Meta and TikTok both reported layoffs in Ireland. In response, the Irish government has said it wants investment from AI companies to help drive the next phase of growth, citing the country’s talent base and research and development ecosystem as key advantages in the AI market.
