Infineon Technologies and Honda Motor have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) about forming a strategic alliance.

Honda chooses Infineon as a semiconductor partner to help coordinate future product and technology roadmaps, Infineon said in a statement. The two firms also agreed to continue discussions about supply stability and foster mutual information transfer and collaboration on projects targeted at accelerating the time to market of technologies.

Infineon will support Honda with technologies to enable competitive and advanced vehicles. Both parties will collaborate on novel architecture concepts in power semiconductors, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and E/E architectures, which will be the primary focus of the technical support.

"Infineon's system understanding, our broad product portfolio, and outstanding quality have made us an appreciated partner to Japan's automotive industry," said Peter Schiefer, president of Infineon's automotive division. "We are honored to be the semiconductor partner for a strategic collaboration with Honda. Intensifying a long-standing partnership even further is always a confirmation of the added value created and, at the same time, an expression of the trust in contributing to future successes."
