Founded by Taiwan-based motorcycle manufacturer Aeon Motor, the Croxera secure IoV alliance has unveiled its smart rearview mirrors for e-scooters.
The rearview mirrors were showcased at the Taipei Smart City Expo in March 2022. Partnered with Taiwan's pioneer battery swapping e-scooter supplier Gogoro, display panel maker AU Optronics (AUO), and Google Cloud Platform, Croxera is building a series of smart features that could be installed on e-scooters.
Scooters are a vital part of daily life in Taiwan and many other Southeast Asia countries. Through smart mobility, electric vehicles (EV) are able to enhance driving security and reduce accidents, and that includes electric scooters.

Croxera CEO and former CEO of Aeon Motor Tony Lin said that unlike the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) in EVs that intervenes in driving, e-scooters' smart features focus on showing predictions and warnings.
Croxera integrates cloud databases to provide alerts on speed cameras and when the vehicle approaches school areas, accident sites, or roadblocks ahead. Warnings will show on the Croxera smart dashboard and the smart rearview mirror to notify drivers to slow down. The database, which the company has begun building three years ago, can be updated through OTA.
Both the dashboard and rearview mirrors can connect with the Croxera app on a mobile device. Manufactured by Ken Sean Industries, the rearview mirror consists of LED lights that show warnings and speed limit alerts to the driver by flashing red lights. The mirrors are connected to its cloud database.

The Croxera dashboard not only provides all the data regarding the trip such as speed and battery life, it is also equipped with navigation and the DAPS (dead-angle prevention system).
The navigation system can be activated by one click and bring drivers to the destination previously set on the mobile app. It can also lead them to the closest battery-swapping station when the battery runs low.
The DAPS is an exclusive feature on Aeon's e-scooters. With cameras on the front and the back, the dashboard switches to the monitor screen to show the driver what is behind them when they are making turns. The front camera functions as a dashcam for the e-scooter and records everything that happens to the vehicle and the driver.
All Aeon e-scooters are equipped with the Croxera dashboard and PBGN (Powered by Gogoro Network) battery swaps. The PBGN network now has nearly 11,000 battery-swapping stations (nicknamed GoStation) all over Taiwan.
