MediaTek is expected to post an up to 10% revenue decrease sequentially in the fourth quarter of 2018, as shipments of the company's mobile SoC chips will stay flat on quarter at between 100 million and 110 million units, according to market watchers.
MediaTek's mobile SoC products consist of solutions for mobile phones and tablets.
Meanwhile, MediaTek's other product lines including power management ICs, ASIC chips, and SoC solutions for TVs, IoT and automotive electronics applications will register a seasonal decrease in sales during the fourth quarter, the watchers indicated.
Growing shipments of MediaTek's Helio P60, P22 and A22 SoC chips boosted the company's revenues to a 7-quarter high of NT$67.03 billion (US$2.15 billion) in the third quarter of 2018, the watchers continued.
The upcoming MediaTek Helio P and A series processors and also Helio M series 5G modem chips will further complete and enhance the competitiveness of the company's mobile SoC lineup, which will pave the way for the company to regain its growth momentum, the watchers said.
