Optical film maker Efun Technology has obtained orders for quantum dot enhancement film (QDEF) for use in professional notebooks specifically used in outdoor environments, according to the company.
Use of QDEF can enhance color saturation and contrast of LCD displays, Efun indicated. There are few QDEF suppliers currently and 3M is the only one that has started shipments in small volumes, Efun said.
Efun has been developing QDEF for a few years through strategic partnership with Taiwan-based makers and international material suppliers, the company noted. In developing ITO (indium tin oxide) film and optical film, Efun developed vacuum sputtering and precision costing technologies which are helpful for Efun's developing QDEF, the company indicated.
Efun has had QDEF under pilot trial use by Japan- and China-based clients, the company said. Viewing that the China government has made policies to boost development of the LCD industry, QDEF technology will be promoted in the 13th Five-year National Development Plan and therefore Efun has particularly cooperated with China-based clients for QDEF technology.
