Acer Octon, a joint venture between Acer and US-based multimedia application developer Octon, demonstrated its new cloud-based PBX business-use communication solution at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015.

The IP solution, dubbed "abPBX Plus," is able to offer cloud-based services plus advanced communication services such as file sharing, IP voice calls and teleconferencing to clients, according to James Sha, president of Acer Octon.

Based on a new SDN (software-defined networking) architecture, Acer Octon's communication solution is able to work with iOS- and Android-based mobile devices on cloud platforms, Sha stated.

Acer Octon will promote the communication solution products to high-tech and financial clients in Taiwan initially in cooperation with Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Sha said, adding that it will promote the products in the US and Europe later.

Meanwhile, Acer Octon also aims to reach breakeven financially in 2015, Sha said.
