Kinko Optical has extended production from glass optical lens kits to plastic ones, which have been adopted for PlayStation 4's sensing kit PS Eye as well as for web cameras from notebook vendors and cameras from China-based smartphone vendors, according to industry sources.
Plastic optical lens kits' share of total shipments rose from 1-2% in July 2013 to 7-8% in August and is likely to increase to over 10% by the end of 2013, Kinko said.
Kinko's August consolidated revenues totaled NT$490 million (US$16.3 million), dropping 3.02% sequentially and 28.31% on year. January-August consolidated revenues totaled NT$3.547 billion, slipping 21.09% on year.
However, Kinko is expected to see a 10% sequential growth in third-quarter 2013 consolidated revenues, market analysts indicated.
