Sporton International, an inductor maker and testing services provider, has reported record consolidated revenues for the second quarter of 2013 with gross margin climbing to a 3-year high of 47.65%.
Second-quarter revenues were up 25.8% sequentially and 17.5% on year to NT$603 million (US$20.15 million), while net profits for the quarter amounted to NT$127 million, increasing 43.8% from the previous quarter and 8.7% from a year earlier.
Testing services, mainly for smartphones, contributed 89.9% to Sporton's total revenues in the second quarter thanks to the roll-outs of 4G LTE models and new smartphones released by clients including Samsung Electronics and HTC, indicated the company.
For the first half of 2013, net profits totaled NT$221 million, decreasing 6.8% from a year earlier. The earnings translated into an EPS of NT$2.65 for the six-month period.
Sporton is positive about the business outlook for the second half of 2013 as the company has completed construction of new lab for testing LTE and 802.11ac devices.
