Computex 2010: AzureWave exhibits latest mobile Internet, wireless entertainment solutions

Press release, staff reporter, DIGITIMES, Taipei 0

With the demand for and ubiquity of notebook computers and smartphones, wireless transmission capabilities have become standard equipment on mobile devices, and consumers are now accustomed to the convenience of wireless internet access. Popular consumer electronics products like e-book readers and the iPad have greatly increased the adoption of wireless transmission functionality. Wireless communications modules have seen explosive growth in the consumer electronics product markets, building up momentum for future development. According to In-Stat, the Wi-Fi device total available market (TAM) will exceed 3 billion unit shipments by 2013.

"The adoption of wireless transmission functions has increased dramatically," said Ted Lee, CEO of AzureWave Technologies. "In addition to smartphones, devices like the iPad and other products with an LCD display, will all require wireless transmission capabilities in the future," Lee said.

AzureWave's long-term commitment to the miniaturization of wireless module ICs, whether in terms of volume, capacity, or increased convenience, makes it the first choice for wireless module solutions. At the same time, AzureWave offers complete software support for a diversified platform of mobile device products, operating system optimization and driver porting-increasing the speed of module products in all kinds of system applications. Taking the widely accepted, open source platform Android as an example, AzureWave has a series of WiFi, Bluetooth and camera module products that have already been incorporated into the Android platform. At this year's Computex, AzureWave's module products will be on display with real product demonstrations with different types of Android applications, including wireless networking, Bluetooth controls, and image capture so that visitors can experience innovative wireless technology applications.

The home audio/video entertainment market has an equally positive outlook. AzureWave's superiority is built on a long-term accumulation of diverse wireless technologies, providing everything from WiFi, Bluetooth, and wireless audio to 60GHz wireless HD in all types of wireless modules. These technologies can be applied to TVs and remote controls, and even to Blu-ray Disc players, home theaters, and acoustic multimedia PCs and gaming PCs. The recent research from In-Stat points out that the shipments of Wi-Fi enabled digital TVs will exceed more than 60 million units by 2014, while the total Wi-Fi enabled CE devices shipment is expected to reach 200 million units.

The wireless audio/video entertainment market is bound to become the key driver of growth in the next wave of wireless communication modules. AzureWave has indicated that its long-term accumulation of RF technology and software development capabilities can optimize wireless solutions for home entertainment products. And through the integration of different technologies, AzureWave will be capable of creating all-new wireless audio/video entertainment applications.

AzureWave is showcasing its line-up of leading wireless products at Computex 2010 at Hall 1, Booth #D431.
