Taiwan-based Optsmd Corporation has obtained orders from Japan-based makers of digital still cameras (DSCs), digital photo frames and Taiwan-based makers of LCD TVs for its anti-reflection (AR) PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) sheets, according to the company.

Having entered the supply chains of Taiwan and Japan makers, the company expects revenues for 2010 to exceed NT$100 million (US$3.17 million).

Optsmd debuted its AR PMMA sheets, a transparent protection cover for LCD panels, in January 2010, the company noted, adding that its AR PMMA sheets can be applied to 42-, 47-, 50-, 52- and 60-inch LCD TVs.

Optsmd indicated that its AR PMMA sheet has over 94% of light transmittance and is about 20-30% cheaper than competition.

Optsmd plans to launch new anti-fouling, anti-fingerprint AR PMMA sheets in the third quarter of 2010

Optsmd has two factories in Taiwan and one in China with a combined monthly coating capacity of 170,000 square meters of glass or plastic sheets, of which 50,000 square meters are specifically for AR PMMA, the company pointed out.
