Leading makers of pre-recorded optical discs in Taiwan, such as U-Tech Media and Infodisc Technology, are likely to see their December revenues slip by 20-30% on year because China-based competitors have obtained more OEM orders for making DVD discs of previously-released movies from Hollywood movie studios, according to industry sources in Taiwan.

Leading Taiwan-based makers of pre-recorded discs usually dominate the OEM production of newly-released and previously-released movie discs, the sources noted. However, China-based manufacturers have started to pick up more OEM orders for DVDs of previously-released movies because they offer lower prices, the sources pointed out.
