Rafael Microelectronics launches full band hybrid silicon tuners

Press release, July 15; Steve Shen, DIGITIMES Asia 0

Rafael Microelectronics, a Taiwan-based broadband RF IC design company, has announced a full band RF receiver, the RT810, which achieves the industry's lowest power consumption and smaller form factor in hybrid silicon tuner segment.

The RT810 is a highly integrated and high performance single RF receiver to support multiple TV broadcasting standards, including analog TV (NTSC/PAL/SECAM), cable TV, and all digital TV standards (DVB-T/ATSC/DVB-C/DMB-T/ISDB-T/CMMB), the company said.

With the state-of-the-art RF architecture, the RT810 has a high level integration with low noise amplifier (LNA), RF tracking filter, mixers, frequency synthesizer, LDO, loop through, crystal output and IF VGA, revealed the company.

Without external SAW filter and loop filter, only minimum coupling components and single voltage supply dramatically simplify board level design and reduce total system BOM cost, the company indicated.

Ranging from 48MHz to 900MHz broadband TV frequency, the RT810 performs excellent strong/weak signal sensitivity, high linearity, and superior image and adjacent channel rejections. Compared with rival companies' hybrid silicon tuners at 800mW power consumption, the RT810's low power design consumes only 150mA at a single 3V voltage supply. These features enable the RT810 to fit markets from high performance to low power applications such as TV, PCTV, STB, digital cable, and portable devices, the company stated.

To expedite customer time to market, Rafael Micro provides both reference designs and customized system designs. The RT810 comes in a lead-free 40QFN or 48QFN packages, the company said.
