2013 worldwide notebook market and industry forecast
Special Report | December 4, 2012
The global notebook market will continue to face challenges in 2013. Although the launch of Windows 8 is supposed to give a boost to the notebook market, challenges including tablets, as well as notebook makers looking to develop more detachable designs and questions about the health of the global economy, make it unlikely that 2013 will be a better year for notebook shipments than 2012. Digitimes Research expects that global notebook shipments will suffer a further drop in 2013 while facing the specter of strong price pressure.

Trends in the commercial development of TD-LTE
Special Report | November 14, 2012
With the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard continuing to develop, international differences in plannings and frequency allocation timetables have resulted in different frequency bands being used in different countries. The China-led TD-LTE standard's greater efficiency in terms of frequency spectrum usage has attracted the attention of carriers in a number of other countries. Digitimes Research projects that the global number of TD-LTE users will reach 97.5 million by 2016, accounting for 23% of all LTE users globally.

Market impact of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8
Special Report | October 4, 2012
The launch of Windows 8 is significant both for Microsoft and for the industry as a whole. Windows 8 will have two major impacts on the PC and tablet markets. Firstly, it will stimulate growth in touchscreen devices. Projective capacitive touch panels are likely to become the mainstream touch technology on the basis of current trends, and their use with spread from mobile devices into PC products. Second, Windows 8 will expedite the uptake of ultra-thin systems like ultrabooks and tablets, and will therefore increase the penetration rate of SSDs.
4Q12 trends in the Greater China touch panel industry
Special Report | September 20, 2012
In 2012, shipments for touch panels used in handsets will increase 17.8% on year in 2012, making up 76.2% of touch panel shipments. In the second half of 2012, the market focus is on the iPhone 5, which uses in-cell touch screen technology. Due to the integration of display panels and touch panel functions, the high technological threshold will mean Taiwan touch panel makers are unable to enter the iPhone's supply chain. As a result panel orders will be allocated to Japan Display and LG Display. Sharp may also obtain orders by fourth-quarter 2012.
