Digitimes Research: 65-inch LCD TVs expected to drop 8% in pricing during February 2012
Julian Ho, Taipei; Alex Wolfgram, DIGITIMES [Monday 18 February 2013]

LCD TVs sized 32-inch and above are expected to drop 2% in pricing on month throughout February 2013 while 65-inch models are expected to drop approximately 8% from US$3,407 to US$3,143, according to Digitimes Research.

The price drops are expected to occur as a result of a lack of demand in the market due to major holiday seasons in North America and China having already ended, added market observers.

The observers also said price wars have been continuing to occur among TV vendors for their large-size TV products ever since Foxconn Electronics and Sharp jointly invested in a 10G line to produce 60-inch LCD TV panel products, causing 60-inch and above size LCD TV panels to drop the most in pricing during February.

LCD TV panels sized 60-inch and above may also face further price drops in the future as Foxconn and Sharp are rumored to be producing 70- and 80-inch LCD TV panels, noted the observers.
