Digitimes Research: Taiwan-based LCD TV shipments total 10.51 million in 4Q12
Tom Lo, DIGITIMES Research, Taipei [Tuesday 5 February 2013]

Taiwan-based LCD TV makers shipped 10.51 million units in the fourth quarter of 2012, up 6.4% on quarter, according to Digitimes Research.

Digitimes Research said 39- and 50-inch TV units had the highest shipments due to Taiwan-based panel makers' product differentiation strategies, which included bumping up production of 39- and 50-inch TV panels. The TV panel sizes were popular in China during the fourth quarter and Taiwan-based LCD TV makers received increased orders from China-based customers as a result.

Additionally, TPV Technology held the top spot in LCD TV shipments compared to other Taiwan-based LCD TV makers followed by Foxconn Electronics and Compal Electronics, added Digitimes Research.

Despite an on-quarter increase during the fourth quarter, Taiwan-based LCD TV makers' total shipments in 2012 amounted to 37.2 million units, down 18.3% on year from 45.54 million units, noted Digitimes Research.
