Taiwan-based panel makers' small- to medium-size TFT LCD shipments in the fourth quarter 2012 amounted to approximately 368 million units, representing a 2.5% drop sequentially and an on-year decline of 0.1%, according to Digitimes Research.

Of the shipments, 80.4% were allocated to handsets, an on-quarter increase of 2.4pp, while shipments for use in digital music players and digital cameras were down 19.4% and 13.9% on quarter, respectively. Vehicle display panel shipments were down 13.9% sequentially as well, said Digitimes Research.

Innolux Corporation's shipments of such panels surpassed those of Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) during the period due to increased orders from Chi Mei Communication Systems (CMCS) and Foxconn International Holdings, noted Digitimes Research.
