Digitimes Research: Taiwan makers to see decreased 3Q12 handset shipments

Taiwan-based makers will ship a total of 16.32 million handsets in the third quarter of 2012, dropping by 15.0% on quarter and by 33.5% on year, according to forecast by Digitimes Research.

Of the third-quarter 2012 shipments, 86.83% will be smartphones. WCDMA will account for 67.3% of the shipment volume, CDMA for 25.0% and GSM for 7.7%.

Own-brand vendor HTC will account for 49.6% of the shipments, followed by Chi Mei Communication Systems with 17.8%, Arima Communications with 14.7%, Compal communications with 10.4% and Inventec Appliances with 4.9%.
