Digitimes Research: Taiwan makers 4Q12 digital camera shipments to hit 15-quarter low

Taiwan-based Ability Enterprise, Altek, Foxconn Electronics and Asia Optical will ship 8.86 million digital cameras in total in the fourth quarter of 2012, decreasing 17.1% sequntially and 27% on year to reach the lowest quarterly level since the second quarter of 2009, according to Digitimes Research.

Ability Enterprise will account for 59.13% of the shipments, Altek 25%, Foxconn 12.47% and Asia Optical 3.40%.

Sony will be the largest client accounting for 45.15% of the shipments, followed by Fujifilm's 19.19%, Olympus' 8.43%, Casio's 7.36%, Samsung Electronics's 5.98%, Panasonic's 2.20% and Pentax's 1.04%.
