Digitimes Research: Taiwan shipments of large-sized panels up 5.2% sequentially in 3Q12

Taiwan-based Chimei Innolux (CMI), AU Optronics (AUO), Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and HannStar Display together shipped 71.415 million large-sized TFT-LCD panels during the third quarter of 2012, growing 5.2% on quarter and 0.1% on year as well as occupying 36.3% of the global total, according to Digitimes Research.

Among different applications, notebooks accounted for 36.39% of the total shipment volume, followed by TVs with 30.26%, monitors with 27.70%, tablets (over 9-inch) with 12.4% and others with 0.3%.

CMI shipped 12.523 million TV panels, 10.892 million notebook/tablet panels and 11.537 monitor panels, while the respective shipment volumes for AUO were 9.086 million, 15.886 million and 7.495 million.
