Digitimes Research: Taiwan makers see 2Q12 LCD monitor shipments drop

Taiwan-based makers shipped 24.01 million LCD monitors during the second quarter of 2012, slipping by 5.6% on quarter and by 19.0% on year, according to Digitimes Research.

Among Taiwan-based makers, TPV Technology was the largest sharing 56.1% of the shipment volume, followed by Qisda with 15.5%, Foxconn Electronics with 15.0%, Wistron with 9.0% and Amtran Technology with 1.7%. Taiwan-based makers accounted for 63.5% of second-quarter total global shipment volume, the lowest market share since the second quarter of 2004.

Taiwan-based makers will ship 25.545 million LCD monitors in the third quarter of 2012 and 26.934 million units in the fourth quarter, resulting in a total of 101.944 million units in 2012, a drop of 12.6% from 2011 to account for 64.0% of the global total.
