Digitimes Research: Taiwan makers ship over 19 million handsets in 2Q12

Taiwan-based vendor HTC and ODM/JDM makers together shipped 19.19 million handsets in the second quarter of 2012, increasing by 21.8% on quarter but decreasing by 16.9% on year, according to Digitimes Research.

Of the handsets, 15.59 million (81.2%) were smartphones, rising by 35.3% on quarter and by 9.1% on year. HTC shipped 9.3 million smartphones, while Compal Communications, Arima Communications, Chi Mei Communication Systems and Inventec Appliances shipped 3.3 million, 2.7 million, 2.3 million and 1.2 million handsets respectively on ODM/JDM basis.
