Digitimes Research: Taiwan handset shipments drop in 1Q12
Luke Lin, DIGITIMES Research, Taipei [Monday 16 April 2012]

Taiwan-based makers shipped 15.81 million handsets (excluding shipments from pure EMS assembly) in the first quarter of 2012, slipping 20.1% on quarter and 24.5% on year, Digitimes Research has found.

The decrease was mainly due to a large decline in orders from Taiwan-based smartphone vendor HTC. However, smartphones' share of total shipments exceeded 70% for the first time.
