Digitimes Insight: Taiwan shipments of small- to medium-size flat panels to grow 4.2% on quarter in 3Q11
Jason Yang, DIGITIMES Research, Taipei [Thursday 21 July 2011]

Shipments of small- to medium-size TFT LCD panels by Taiwan makers are expected to top 340 million units in the third quarter of 2011, showing a sequential growth of 4.2%, the lowest on-quarter growth for the third quarter since 2005, according to data collected by Digitimes Research.

Since the fourth quarter is traditionally an off-peak season for panel makers, Taiwan's shipments of small- to medium-size flat panels are likely to drop to 320 million units in the fourth quarter, down a 4.4% from a year earlier.

For 2011, shipments of small- to medium-size flat panels by Taiwan makers will post an on-year growth of 9.6%, the first annual growth rate of below 10% since 2005.
