Early in the second quarter demand continued with the strong momentum built up from the first quarter when clients stocked up their inventories in anticipation of sharp increases in prices during the high season later in the year. But inventory issues emerged toward the latter part of the second quarter when the impact of a weakening global economy was beginning to be felt.
