Siano launches next generation MDTV receiver chip
Press release, January 3; Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES [Thursday 3 January 2008]

Siano Mobile Silicon revealed a new mobile digital TV (MDTV) receiver chip, the SMS1100, which supports the ISDB-T, DVB-H, DVB-T, DAB, DAB-IP and T-DMB standards.

The SMS1100 consumes less than 165 milliwatts (tuner and baseband combined) when receiving high definition TV (HDTV) over DVB-T broadcast, 70% less than competing solutions, noted the company.

The SMS1100 also integrates both RF tuner and demodulator (baseband), and eliminates the need for any active external components.

The SMS1100 will enter mass production in the first quarter of this year, noted the company.
