Transcend unveils 8GB SDHC Class 6 card

Press release, April 14; Rodney Chan, DIGITIMES Asia 0

Transcend Information has launched an 8GB SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) Class 6 memory card that can be used in applications supporting SD 2.0, such as Nikon Coolpix S200/S500/P5000 digital cameras, Panasonic DMC-L1/FX07 digital cameras, and Panasonic SDR-S200 digital camcorder.

Transcend said the new memory uses brand-name NAND flash chips to ensure low power consumption and long product life.

SDHC is the next generation of SD cards (Version 2.0). Formatted in FAT32, SDHC cards can have a capacity of 32GB, and can fulfill the high-capacity demand of new SDHC devices.

Transcend said its new memory cards are fully compatible with the SD 2.0 standard, and the mechanical write protection switch of its SDHC cards keeps information safe by preventing accidental deletion or writing over important data.
