Gigabyte launches quad SLI-ready GA-N680SLI-DQ6 gaming platform
Press release, January 16; Rodney Chan, DIGITIMES [Tuesday 16 January 2007]

Gigabyte United, a joint-venture of Gigabyte Technology and Asustek Computer, has launched its GA-N680SLI-DQ6 high-end gaming platform, featuring the Nvidia nForce 680i SLI MCP chipset, supporting Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core processors, and delivering what the company calls Gigabyte 6-Quad technologies.

The board is based around the Nvidia nForce 680i chipset and offers native 1333 FSB support for the latest Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core processors, the company claims. Support for SLI technology is one of the main features of the board which includes two PCI Express x16 connections plus an additional PCI Express x8 connection which, the company says, allows users to add a standalone physics graphics processor for even more graphics performance.

The GA-N680SLI-DQ6 also supports a number of enhancements which are claimed to allow enthusiasts to squeeze additional performance from their systems when the motherboard is matched with select hardware components.
