Global Mobile is installing WiMAX equipment on public buses in the Taipei area to allow passengers to have free mobile Internet-access, according to the company.
The Taiwan-based company said it has equipped nearly 300 buses with WiMAX functions and will complete installation for 800 buses in total by the end of 2011. The 800 WiMAX-enabled buses are expected to have a daily user base of 1.5 million person trips, Global Mobile said.
