Irene Chen, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES [Wednesday 14 April 2010]
Taiwan-based makers of WiMAX products will generate a total production value of NT$15 billion (US$471 million) in 2010, hiking by 87.5% from 2009, according to Economic Affairs Minister Shih Yen-shiang speaking at the WiMAX Forum Congress Asia 2010 currently taking place in Taipei. The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has considered the integration of WiMAX with 4G mobile communication standards, but there is no timetable because the development of the latter is not yet mature, Shih pointed out. In addition to WiMAX CPE, the MOEA will boost development of WiMAX turnkey solutions and systems for export, Shih indicated.
